The brief was to extend the existing house and deck and to increase the functionality of the living/ kitchen space and the bathroom.
The solution was to fill in a seldom used stair at the back of the house with extra floor area and relocate the kitchen to that area. The deck was almost tripled in size by doubling the width and by using the area freed by the removal of the stairs. A link between the kitchen and the deck was created through a large concertina window which also provides an abundance of light and a commanding view over the pool and the yard. There was still some space left to include a small bar area.
The kitchen has been finished with some beautiful finishes like classic cabinetry, a steel grey stone benchtop, traditional taps, a large ceramic double sink and white walls to benefit from the light that comes through the added windows. The bar area has got timber finishes with VJ boards on the walls.
The bathroom was rearranged from a single shower space without a storage cupboard to a bathroom with a shower, a freestanding claw foot bath, a vanity basin and a storage cupboard with ample storage. The finishes include a beautiful limestone floor and traditional taps.
