The brief was to replace the roof and for more light and less heat to come into this twelve sided house on a low budget.
The solution was to add insulation under the floor and remove the existing ceiling and add deep battens to allow for the thickness of the insulation and to extend the roof so it shades the house in summer and still heats the house in winter. The Insulation will keep the house cooler in summer and warmer in winter. The extra light is achieved by removing an existing ceiling that covered the ceiling space. The existing dome had to be removed and is replaced by a new one with more window height. The ceiling won't make a return so all the light from the windows will fall into the house. The dome will feature a beautiful 12-sided timber ceiling.
